Long Branches only had paint if they were FTR'd by the Brits or were in service in India. Have to see an overall picture of the rifle and a shot of the butt plate to tell you more.

Looking at the pics, I would say its a LB that saw UK
Military service, stored, then sold off to the UK gun trade...
And exported, part of the huge joint Parker Hale, Interarms buy perhaps...

Looking at the improved pics I think it was done with an overhaul in the UK
originally and then the second coat looks like a simple spry paint done by the layman to touch up... Some of you will be able to look at the receiver and decide... Anyone seen Peter? He'd know... The cover paint doesn't look thick enough to be issue.
