So it sounds like you were looking for a 1/4" BSF or a 1/4" British Standard Brass tap which are identical taps and both 26t.p.i..

Being a onetime, low impact use tool I searched the cheapest option, anything out of the states was too expensive in shipping so I ordered one off eBay with free shipping.
Turns out the cost is in the wait...

Ya 26 tpi, surprisingly hard to find in Canada.
