I understand and commiserate. But since the issue sights are calibrated for 'issue' ammunition, I went the other way. I have developed loads matching the original issue ammo so I can just use the regular sights.

That would not be difficult and simpler if you have a chronograph. However, once you have ascertained the trajectory, the original sight settings will not be correct.

Just for the tally book, according to my testing, PPU factory loadings with 174 grain bullets chronographed (average of two #1 Mk3 rifles) was 3380 fps. The Mk VII round was advertised at 2440 fps. Winchester - Western Olin 174 gr FMJBT averaged around 2480 fps.
