My question: does anyone know the difference between the knobed and knob-free magazine?

I dont know if this helps but this is a magazine for a mossberg 44b target rifle I have
the knob is a threaded pin for allowing only 1 round to be loaded into the mag.
or by removing you can fill the mag.

Thanks. That sure sounds more like a target/trainer magazine than one designed as a sporter.
