The 44US rifle, correct, magazine has no pin. The 44US correct mag is held together with rectangle solid pins. Reproduction mags are held together with roll pins and they also have the 22 short adaptor pin that goes into the bottom of the mag. The pin keeps the 22 shorts from backing up when the rifle is fired.
Think the difference is 44US versus other 44 variations?
