Remington 1903

Hi Everyone

I thought I would try posting some pictures of a 1903 I picked up at a show last December.
If I am right it is a 1942 receiver and has the original barrel on it.
Any info. I can get from you guys would be appreciated

Something about the stock doesn’t look quite right to me. It’s just so crisp. Are there any cartouches or inspector stamps on it?
Maybe I just missed them in the pictures.

No and I cant see any signs of any sanding done.
The stock needed a good cleaning so I used an oil scrub on it.

The grasping grooves don't look correct, especially the ends and center of the grooves. The stock have a lot of wood over hang at the but plate. Rest of rifle look good with some mix parts.

The B on the floor plate indicates that the rifle spent some time with the Greeks ( sold through the CMP ?? ). I agree that the grasping grooves have been added to the stock. The R4 on the bolt indicates a Non-Remington bolt.

The "B" stamped on the floor plate shows that the floor plate was in Greece... an indication of the Greek modification of pining the floor plate release to make it inoperable. My CMP Greek return M1903 has the modification also.

It is a mixmaster and the stock is a fake in terms of "real" grasping grooves. The grooves are all the same width and a Remington of that serial range wouldn't have a stock like that anyway. The bolt is a 1942 Springfield and the cocking piece is a 1903A3. The barrel is original but the rest of the rifle is made up of mixed parts.

What do you think about that clearance cut for the cutoff? That’s what looked too crisp to me - like the stock wasn’t old enough to be real.
