Thanks MrClark! It is now only a fraction of what it was 6 years ago as I have sold off quite a bit. I used to have 67 MG's but am now down to about 13. Of course I can't help myself at times and still get the odd addition.

Qustion about .22 NZ school rifle
Since I have attention from New Zealanders, can they identify and state usage of the pictured NZ property marked .22 Lee?

I have been told that they were built up for a boy's school. Most have shortened or B size butt stocks.

These are known as 'Trentham trainers' and were supposedly put together at Trentham base in the 50's, They were used on indoor 25 yard ranges by cadets. I assume they were disposed of when the No8 trainers came into service. They are quite rare in NZ in they intact form, My three trainers were once these but I restored them to their full wood form since the original stocks and sight protectors were lost.

I have never seen that pattern before (and was at school during the compulsory Cadet era). We used No 8 .22 rifles at the school 25 yard range and .303 No 4 rifles on the school 300 yard range (Waitaki Boys High School). Most schools only had a 25 yard range.
NZ used a wide variety of .22 trainers in the inter-war years and early '50's but by 1960 was standardised on the No 8's. The No 8's came up for public auction a few years ago (I bought 8 No 8's and a No 9). The Government wanted to destroy them but the public outcry against the wilful destruction caused a change of heart. Not many schools have Cadets now and those few that do use Norinco JW15 .22 rifles.

This is the only information i know of about them but they are only mentioned near the end of the article but it does tell you about them before they were shortened
