1918 DWM Gew98
I picked up a 1918 DWM Gew 98 at a gun show last week. Saw the awesome looking rear sight and just had to have. Its non matching and looks to have been reworked by the force match bolt and sanded stock. The receiver is also not in the white. I've also been told that 1918 is a rare year for some reason or another. Any input would be awesome. Thanks

Not sure 1918 is a rare year for any particular reason. I see a lot of them. Perhaps for that manufacturer. Production would have continued for most of the year.
Full length photos would be nice. Hard to tell much about it from your small areas.

Interesting article. Good example of why production numbers aren't always indicative of the rarity of a collectible. Surviving to be collected being more important.
