Ongoing issues....extraction/ejection?

Sorry guys, I had six whole days off at the beach with a friend. I arrived back yesterday night and am buried up to my armpits in alligators again! I think it's a gas problem and not chamber but could be wrong. I was under the impression that these replacement barrels are chrome lined like the originals but looking at the polishing job, it appears that's not the case. I've seen a similar problem before and it wasn't the piston or an oversize gas port but a worn out gas cylinder. I still have some used but excellent cylinders here to try if that's the case. Contact me directly if you want to send it. Send the complete rifle so I can go through it and range test it too for you to be sure it's properly repaired.

I just looked at the advert for the new replacement barrels and they ARE chrome lined. This really leads me to believe it's a gas problem and not the chamber unless it was a defective or rough chamber before it was plated. The guy who installed it knows his stuff and would have certainly said something if there was a problem which would most likely show up during headspacing.

Thank Christ for the pile of C1 spares I bought and imported back in the very early 2000's. The gas cylinders have been especially handy for curing more than one Century Arms built SLR or FAL. They just slapped them together with very tired parts kits in some cases so it was luck of the draw when you bought one. Gas cylinders are funny because sometimes there can be a very tiny crack that's undetectable short of a very detailed up close disassembly and inspection. Sometimes they just aren't screwed in properly before being pinned. We'll see.

Yes, looking forward. The hardest thing in the world is to try to sort out something over the internet...as hard as on the phone. Sometimes you ask about something and get an affirmative answer when the two of you aren't even talking about the same thing...misunderstanding...

The rifle is stamped and shipped and on it’s way to Brian as I write.
Curiously when I shipped it to have the barrel installed a few weeks ago my local UPS store took it in and shipped it for me no problem. I went back to the same store this morning got a different clerk and they told me they’re not permitted to ship fire arms through the satellite stores I would have to go to one of their shipping hubs to ensure that everything was done properly. I explained that they provided the service for me a couple weeks ago and they basically said their clerk made a mistake . Neither “hub” is close by so I went to the Post Office and the clerk there was very helpful.
Anxious to see what the diagnosis is and I will report back.

I've found the same problem here, one Canada Post employee said it was "Illegal, very illegal" to ship firearms...and it's not. Just his opinion without consulting their job description.

According to their rules, you cannot drop off firearms at UPS Stores. It’s not “illegal” it’s just against their rules.

For what it’s worth, their rules also say you only have to verbally tell them it’s a gun if it’s a handgun.

I’ll ship a gun every now and then. I simply pack it up well, insure it, and drop it off at the UPS Center. And never say a word about what’s in it if it’s a long gun. No reason they need to know, even according to their own rules.

Our posties can deliver a handgun to your residence as a bonded courier. If they miss you and you need to go sign next day at the shop, wherever it may be, it requires a permit of whichever type is in vogue at the time. ATT right now.
