    BAIGISH-6M Soviet night vision binoculars

Saw these at the local market, been thinking about getting them, but I’m finding it hard to get any information on them.

Are they in a grey canvas bag, back end like binos and the front end monocular and 2nd Generation?

No, the ones I’m talking about have a panoramic viewing window with a rubber part to go over your eyes to minimize light leakage, they are second generation. They are carried in a hard green bag, and yes the front end is a monocular.

Yes confirm they are the GEN 2 6M variant of the same GEN 1 originals all metal.

Lots of our guys had them over in Yugoicon. They all carried stuff we took off guys as there weren't enough of ours to go round. They didn't have to take care of them, no S.I. if they got misplaced...or run over.

Really crude but they worked and were better than nothing.
    Regards, Jim

    Jim,
Downside is that there are so many variants some poor and most really unsafe and bad.
The one I refered to that comes in a canvas grey bag, was made like a pistol shape and the lower and upper casing cheap plastic which encased the tube.
The downside was with them when we measured the radiation omitted from it at the Home Office, more was coming back into the users mark one eyeballs than where it was supposed to be going out the front.
Sadly I gave my notes on the variations they were offering the Russianicon troops in the 70's away when I stopped lecturing on night vision. Peter L may have a view on them, but I know they were banned for Police and Military use due to Health and Safety risks to the users.
I only refer to the 1st Gen kit not the later 6M 2nd Gen updated and more ruggefied casings units.

Yes, I’m the son of an expat there. I’ve been getting into militaria since I got interested in the history of the Cold War, it’s great considering I know russian and have access to all these markets and bazaars.
