Looks like an honest Navy Arms import. It needs a little TLC IMHO but that's all. Val Sr. told me that the combined total of L39 and L42 rifles imported back then was north of 700 with a rough 50/50 split. I wonder just how many of the 1080 produced are still surviving in collections and museums around the world. Colin, do you have a figure yet?

A good question Brian, Just before I go on, Hope all is well and you were well battened down for Florence ?

I think the figures really need to be thrown in the hat and see who has what, I was in conversation with DRP over some figures many moons ago, can't recall off the top of my head who had the main supply from the MOD, but with what PL states in the last knockings of the L42 some were in a s**t state and just in so serviceable.

My own is no safe queen, far from it and is a well used example, but I've kept it like that, there are few repairs what need doing but in time will be done, but anything cosmetic will be up to the new owner (when ever that is) !!

I know of six that were scrapped ( XL39E1, I did pass these serial numbers on to you when you give me the info on my own L42 (ex trials) )

Have you got a ball park percentage ?
