Heck of a lot better sight system than a 1903. And they sure did make a slug of em. R and W are both name recognizable and rarer, makes collectors happy.
Grease would be right for the pressure bearing part (back of lugs though not a lot)
Oil in the rest.

Grease all of the underlying metal that's enclosed by the woodwork. I use a soft old toothbrush to apply it. This should be the case with all old military rifles once disassembled and serviced before reassembly.
