    New 1917's

I recently glommed two 1917's at separate auctions...a Winchester and a Remington.

    The Winchester...

    Auction description advised:

Condition: Very good with an excellent bore. Retains ca 50% original blue finish; very good wood with added gloss finish. Serial number 471495

    The Remington...

    Auction description advised:

Remington model 1917 30-06 great condition sn 434436

The Remington came with a weathered looking sling.

Better description and pics when they arrive.

    1917 eddystone

    Hi Calfed,

I like your 2 /17's they look great. I started collecting them about 2 years ago. I now have 10 1917's. I see you got them on that auction site. I won one ( the highest bidder) on Saturday, on that site, It is an Eddystone, can't wait to get it. I also won, on that site about a year ago, a 4 didgit Whinchester with just the W above the Number. I posted pictures on this post about 3 week ago. check it out. The post is ( 4 didget Winchester) Good luck with them. Here is the one I just got.

You got a nice one, buddy.

I was watching that one and I'm glad it went to someone that appreciates it.

I checked out your 4 digit "W" marked 1917 and that is fantastic. I've read about the 4 digit Winchesters and it is good to finally see one.

    Well...disappointing news.

The Remington never arrived. When I called the auction house, I was advised that it had actually been sold to another bidder.

The Winchester did arrive. Mostly Winchester parts in an Eddystone stock. The stock has been urethaned, so I've got some work cut out for me.

Bore looks good and gauges a "2" on the CMPicon gauge. Range report to follow...
