That one would have ben a keeper I feel Jim I would have kept it locked away as its a mighty fine looking piece very nice bluing and minimal if any wear cannot have had many rounds out of it.

I have a problem keeping a new one that can't be shot or shouldn't be manipulated much...I don't have the money to just sit on these or enough of them to be able to not shoot them. Always been that way.

I have Marine Corps orders for the corpsman in the Pacific in WWII to be armed.

On the M1911 that sold for 17k or whatever the final auction sale was. I am not a big fan of the pistol. From what I see I think it's a restoration. The lettering, lines of the pistol, and just some other things sort of strike me as more a restoration than an original piece.

Here is the comparison of the lettering. I think it looks redone. The slide stop looks buffed and refinished as well.

In my opinion, something 100 years old that looks "new" and has crisp markings, coatings, no discoloration, no waves or scuffing at the sharp edges is very suspect.
Metallurgy alone tells us this is unlikely.
I have seen "brand new" in the box Inglis High Powers with their decals and even though they are "never used" , they still look like they have been stored for 70 odd years with some residual lube on them in places.
I agree with CplSteves analogy of the pics.
Examining that WW1 piece for any sign of recent draw file or higher than the original steel ratio of nickel steel showing micro welding infill should have been a high priority for anyone vetting that one.

I recently purchased a Colt 1911A1 from 1943 that is a solid 8.5/9 out of 10 and it can pick it up, proudly show it to someone, wipe it down and put it back in the safe without fear. That's my speed...really nice, well cared for.
What more should we ask for?

This Colt has been Re-listed due to the NON Paying winner.
Here's the bidder list of the first go round, that I've compared to some of this sellers other current listings, like a Never Issued IBM carbine. So many of the same names he looks to have a cult following or his own shill bidder roster.

Look at the feed ramp of the " unissued" Carbine.
I have seen other like new 75 year old pieces from manufacturers who left feed ramps in the white and there was always some toning to actual patina.
I believe Carbines left the plants greased, wrapped and packed.
This looks like it was done last week.
My opinion but does this stuff just looks too nice?

I have a Lend Lease Garand that almost looks too nice except for the crate dings in the original stock set confirming the history of the 77 years of storage and travel.

Non-paying bidders are on the rise with GB. I feel for the sellers. Been mostly buying, but every once in a while, I sell. Always hold my breathe until he payment show. Worse part is not the absent payment, but the fee that GB charges and then takes more than a month to process a refund for the fee. Just a pain. I have brought this up several times with. They just ignore me.
