one picture in a manual. doesn't make it correct.... go out with one set that way, and shoot it...
when I install the scope. I make sure the safety swings all the way over, and make sure the scope can be used without creeping up on the stock.
the scope, is installed correctly... even if you feel that the one picture posted in a manual says other wise.

Chuck - my safety was blocked by the scope bell with the Alaskan set back. And I have seen at least one other photo of an M1903A4 in military hands with the scope mounted forward, supposedly a Korean War era rebuild.
