AN/PVS-2 reticle diagram
Anyone have the mil relation for the T reticle in the AN/PVS-2 starlight scope?
You'd think this would be an easy one. Just look it up in the operator's manual...
It's not in TM 11-5855-203-10 (1974) or TM 11-5855-203-23 (1977).
Checked marksmanship manuals, FM23-8, FM23-9 and FM23-10 from 1966, 1974, 1989, and 2006 and it's not there either. They briefly mention zeroing at 150 meters but no sketch or any description of the reticle
Anyone have an old Armor School Training Text, or maybe some Viet Nam era training circulars might have it?
AN/PVS-4 and later, the pictures and diagrams of US, Israeli, and commercial reticles for everything from the M16
to the Stinger missile with full color glossy photos are all over the internet.
PVS is still classified, apparently

I was finally able to find and incomplete version of TC 23-11 which illustrates an early bead reticle and the later and more common black line reticle, but without any dimensions or mil relationship. I have the black line reticle which differs from yours. So still looking for the definitive answer.

I believe from what I remember the reticle, dot or line was a 3 inch move at 150 meters. It's has been awhile since I used one.

Close, one click of the elevation or windage adjustment knobs moves the strike 3 inches at 150 meters

Attachment 102119I have one of those AN/PVS 2 NVS, but I don't shoot it much and never noticed the complete lack of info on the reticle in the manuals... Page 23 of TM 11-5855-203-10 confirms each click moves point of strike 3" at 150 yards.

Yes, you are right but the marks on the reticle also equates to 3 inches at 150 meters.

Can owners of the PVS-2 confirm the reticle is the same like in the PVS-1 manual, or ist it like the IWS reticle my friends PVS-2 has.
I'm just a bit curios if his PVS-2 has the wrong reticle on it. Perhaps its a custom one intended for the brits before the introduction of IWS? Or some home made reticle. I dont own it myself so cant ask him so unscrew the frontlens to take a look on the front of his tube. As far as i know the reticle is etched solid into the PVS-2 tube instead of a seperate glass reticle like in IWS right? Or is it a little plastic sheet with a printed reticle glued infront of the tube like on the L5 pocket scope?

I just HAD to look at mine to see which reticle it had... it is the latter type with solid lines, Old tanker's second pic... I just put in the batteries and turned it on to see, I have no idea how the reticle is installed

The reticle on the AN/PVS-1 is installed separate from the Image intensifier tube. I have seen both reticles on the AN/PVS-1 and own one with the round circles reticle. On the AN/PVS-2 series the reticle is etched into the rear of the image tube. The image tubes for the AN/PVS-1 has no etching. As a side note those folks that are looking for an image tube for the AN/PVS-1 will find that the British
EEV image will fit the AN/PVS-1 and are of a later generation than the image tubes on the AN/PVS-2. I have experimented with using different reticles for the AN/PVS-2 by using the British EEV tubes with different reticles print on a super-pixel thermal clear plastic and gluing them with an optical glue to the rear of the image tube. The results were OK but not great.
