This may not apply, but.........
I have a Mosin Nagant (Finn) that shot a full 3' to the left at 200 yards. An examination of the front sight revealed that it was already as far to the left as the dovetail would allow. Thinking I had a bent barrel, I removed the action from the stock and was astonished to find the forend so badly warped that I couldn't get the action back in again! I transferred the action to a Russianstock and shot it again...........after drifting that front sight back over, it shot to the point of aim.
Lessons learned: A warped stock is difficult to detect initially, and the force exerted by warped wood is tremendous.Information
