The dimensions are approximately 7 1/2" or 190mm tall by approximately 4"

My bet is a magazine case for a 5.56 Mag. Each mag is about 7.250" tall x .875~.900 thick x 2.6 wide but they curve with those dimensions the pouch would hold 4 mags with just the right wiggle room. Homemade or not...

One thing that we haven't yet been banned from owning in the UK are magazines.

(I left the mags in plastic bags when I tried them in the pouch to avoid getting oil on the pouch.)

Yup, look like 5.56 mags... You know it could be a middle east bring back. You find a lot of made to fit things like this that the insurgents carried. Not like they have a Wal-Mart there.
