I am attempting to fill in the historical blanks for my Grandfather's Colt 1911. I submitted pics and serial number to Colt and received confirmation that is was manufactured in 1912 and was part of a 1,200 piece lot sent to the Army's arsenal in San Antonio, Tx. My Grandfather was a coal mining superintendent in Wilder, TN and a coal mine inspector. He was known to carry the 1911 with him most of the time. He was not in the military and never traveled to Texas. Does anyone have any ideas on tracking the history of this gun from San Antonio, TX to a coal mine in Tenn.
