Hartford Colt Help

Looking at one of these (below) exactly as described. Sorry, unable to post pics. It's all-matching except for the mag. In the 3,000 serial number range. Appears to have been re-parked a long time ago and has light rust and some pitting over the finish. The slide has been heat treated.

I have several Sistemas and am able to find values for those but cannot locate any of the Hartford's to get comparable values. I've searched Gunbroker and some other sites and have read the sticky on the 1911 Forum. Can anyone help me with a value or any comps for comparison? Are they valued lower or higher than the Sistemas?

THE 1927 HARTFORD ARGENTINE ARMY MODELS

The 10,000 Hartford Colts made for Agentina prior to production of Sistemas were delivered from 1927 to 1933, serial #’s 1-10,000." The production period was from July 28, 1927 to February 16, 1928. Serial numbers were stamped in Colt’s italic numbers on top of the slides, under the mainspring housing, and (usually) on top of the barrel.

On the left side of the slide (the Colt logo is stamped behind these lines):
"COLT'S PT. F.A. MFG. CO. HARTFORD CT. USA"
"PATD APR. 20, 1897,SEPT. 9, 1902,DEC. 19, 1905,FEB. 14, 1911,AUG. 19, 1913."
On the right side of the slide is the Argentine Crest and:
"EJERCITO ARGENTINO"
"COLT CAL. 45 MOD. 1927"

I remember when Sarco had these. Must’ve been 7 years ago or so. Tried to buy one then but things weren’t quite as flush as they are now!
Anyway, depending on condition, these are worth somewhere between $600 and $800.

Based on current prices, they are of less value than the Sistemas. I thought based on the fact that they were produced by Colt and before the production of Sistemas that they would be of more value than the Sistemas. Thoughts?

Sistemas seem to be going for $450 to $600.
So I’d say you’re correct that the Colts are worth more.

FYI, I’m going off of sold prices on Gunbroker.
If you had a store to sell them in or did a face-to-face deal, you could maybe add $100 to the prices I’ve given.
...but they may take a while to sell.

Prices vary considerably. One of 'em sold for $1,012.00 on Gun Auctions. Another for over 3 grand on another auction site. And everything in between.

Thanks, yes very familiar with it. Very helpful. I've since been convinced to pass on this one and another one. I refer back to it all the time. In fact, just read through it last night trying to answer the age old question about the additional 4 numbers after the serial numbers on these. I'm assuming some type of tracking number that the Argies used in addition to the serial numbers maybe? Similar to when they put the serial number on the side of the slide and frame after it's been produced.Thoughts?
