WTS 1944 British BSA No 4 Mk I T Sniper rifle with a No 32 scope (click here)

Before we created this forum for our Contributing Members, I had a number of members send me PM's asking about this ad and whether it was a good deal or not. I thought I'd post my opinion only for everyone's benefit.
I had a quick look at the advertisement and it appears to be a mismatched scope/rifle.
The serial number on the top wrist of the wood #15663 should match the serial number on the scope. The serial number on the No.32 Mk3 scope says#25629 (2nd digit might be a 3), but it's definitely not a match to the scope. Also, the pictures are too fuzzy to make out the numbers on the mounts, but they should be a sequential pair as well.
The rifle in the CGN Ad has gone through one of the W.R.S. (Weedon Repair Standard) sub-contractors. A rifle having undergone W.R.S. repairs may be identified by a six (6) pointed star stamped into the wood, with a letter stamped underneath it indicating the specific sub-contractor who did the work. For example, the pics below show a different 1944 M47c (BSA Shirley) No.4 Mk1(T) in ~Angel~'s private collection. The butt itself on her rifle was changed during a visit to for W.R.S. work to W.W. Greener, as indicated by the six (6) pointed star and the letter V, which was their sub-contractor code letter.

To be honest, based upon the rifle's condition as depicted in the pics, I think its overpriced. $2400 -$2500 is about market price for a miss-matched No.4(t), but it should be in much better condition, at least in my opinion. This one looks a little too beat up for my liking, although at $2,000 I'd think about jumping on it.

Good morning folks
I was very interested in this rifle, and had the opportunity to ask the seller some questions, 2.5 is a little to steep but the hard part is that the scope needs servicing, as there is a brown patina going across the scope interior if it goes down to 2 large badger and I will probably have to solve this milsurp duelling pistols at dawn

Well, I think I'll bring my 1808 Brown Bess Tower Musket - India Pattern .... 
If the scope has issues, then I'd subtract some serious value off the asking price of any No.4(T).
The lubricating grease originally used in the range and windage drums on these No.32 scopes often dries out and becomes very tight. DO NOT force them, as you can damage the internal components. If you need to get your No.32 scope repaired, I'd recommend sending it to the best, Mr. Peter Laidler in England. He's refurbished two of ~Angel~'s No.32 scopes, has access to any parts needed and does excellent work. His knowledge on the No.32 scope is second to none and he's authored two books on the subject. In my opinion you get what you pay for, but for those of you on a tight budgets, there is a fixed price option Snipercountry No.32 Scope Repair Service - Flat Rate $265 U.S. (click here). I've never heard any feedback on this service, however, if any members have used it, please send me a PM so I can post the results for others.
To get a No.32 Mk1, Mk2, or Mk3 scope repaired by Peter Laidler, contact Brian Dick at BDL Ltd (click here), as they have exclusive North American rights to do all of Peter's work. what would cause the patina
Ordering the books alot cheaper even with the shipping and exchange.
So what would cause a brown patina to cover the inside of the scope moisture? And best case scenario could that be cleaned? Think I am going to take the hit and make an offer just call me stupid

the die is cast
Like it says the die is cast and the mold is broken, just trying to get the funds to the old owner looking forward to the new owner ME. Will be sending the scope away as soon as it arrives hopefully will be shooting it in a couple of months. You just gotta love a number 4T wished it was an H&H, I will be leaning on you folks to tell me all about it when she shows up I am sure it has cartouches everywhere been speaking with the seller he bought it in Ontario, wondering if we can trace its history, just imagine the story it could tell if only she would speak.
