Hate being a conspiracy theorist but there is so much about this that makes very little sense.

In China where this originated, despite all their lies and under reporting of numbers, this does not appear to be as serious as it is in other places.

The only places this seems to have hit hard are China's primary economic competitors, The United States and Western Europe. 3rd world, very few cases comparatively.

Numbers, no one is telling us the true numbers and by now, they should be well known. Who is this affecting? Who is this killing? All indications are it is the very old and the very sick on both counts. While anyone can contract it, a large percentage have symptoms so mild they don't even know they have it. Numbers will tell us whether we need to continue with these shutdowns or not or even if they were needed in the first place. The Big news two days ago was the US death toll exceeded all the Americans killed in Vietnam. So what, that number is statistically small. We have that many people die in 8 days. Even during the Vietnam War, we had more people killed in auto accidents EVERY year than were killed in Vietnam. So it's a pointless number, it's a propaganda number. But not one news organization pointed any of these things out. I'm hearing from numerous sources there is nothing to this even in the hospitals. With the exception of NYC, hospitals are not overrun, in fact they are more like ghost towns. They emptied them out in preparation for a massive surge that never happened. Many are actually laying off staff. They can't pay them, they have no patients. The number they concern themselves with is the US now has more deaths by far than anyone else. Again, a pointless number. Per capita our deaths are smaller than most and the per case rate of death is less than half that of most European nations.

Politicians are pointing fingers at their political enemies rather than China who is the primary culprit in this entire mess. China controls the World Health organization, they control or seem to control the media as the media is bending over backwards to support their version of events. Politicians in the US on the Democrat side also are bending over backwards to support China's version of events. We have states with Democrat governors advocating a long shut down. We have states with Republican governors that never even shut down at all and others that are opening up now and they faced massive criticism at the time and now yet when the worst case scenarios never happen, the media conveniently finds something else to talk about rather than pointing them out as success stories.

The media and the new media, particularly YouTube, Facebook and Google have all become massive censures preventing any information that does not toe the line of the WHO and China version, removing all discussion which counters it in any way and publicly announcing they are doing so.

Why all of a sudden over this did governments shut down rather than ride it out. There appears to be little difference between the two other than those that didn't are in much of the world that isn't really being affected by this.

So what's the conspiracy? China is behind it all in a bid to strengthen their position in the world. They continue rattling sabres in the South China Sea. They shut down all transport in China while sending people from Wuhan to the United States and Western Europe. The media and politicians early on sided with them and encouraged people to welcome them, the "hug a Chinese" campaign. They control much of the media and are using it to deflect blame. Politicians in the US see this as yet another way to unseat Trump and they will side with anyone who they believe can help them in this. Inflate numbers, create fear, create dependency, erode rights.

Will it work? That seems to be the big question. It is creating a huge backlash in the US among the conservative portion of the population against China. We want our factories to return home. But again, the usual divide remains. The left says this is bigoted, etc and would rather blame Trump for this than the Chinese.
