BOTR, has a video on the subject, but I don't think it's gone public yet. The pasteboard chargers are cheaper and easier to produce, both because of material cost and because the Swissicon would have had to pay DWM royalties to produce the Mauser style clips. Utilizing the DM lader clips would have also required changing out all the ammunition pouches in service, because they don't really fit in those designed for the pasteboard chargers.

Plus for all intents and purposes the pasteboard chargers are likely better. You drop a clip in the snow when your trying to load your rifle? Not really a issue with the pasteboard chargers, possibly a quick sweep on the bottom round to clean it off. With a Mauser style clip it can be a challenge to clean the rounds sufficiently to use. The pasteboard chargers still strip exceptionally easy, and they are pretty good for reusing even though the reuse of the clip isn't the primary function.
