					Swiss Mauser style clips

Does anybody know where one might be able to find some Mauser style clips for the Swiss
straight pulls? I've only heard a few mentions of them. One being Bloke on the Range and here: Swiss Stripper Clips . And I'm not speaking of the chargers that encase the entire bullet. Just the little clip that holds onto the rim

I think your best bet is to go to
SwissRifles
and ask on the appropriate forum. If nobody there can suggest a source, then you are probably looking for unobtainium.

							Although all Swiss
rifles are cut for the Mauser style clips (DM lader), they were never put into production and the only ones produced were used for the 1908/1909 rifle trials that lead to the 1911 series rifles. So, you are basically looking for unobtainium.

Well, I figured they'd be unobtanium, but I figured I might as well try. Any idea why they stuck with the chargers they have? I would think it'd be easier to manufacture.

BOTR, has a video on the subject, but I don't think it's gone public yet. The pasteboard chargers are cheaper and easier to produce, both because of material cost and because the Swiss
would have had to pay DWM royalties to produce the Mauser style clips. Utilizing the DM lader clips would have also required changing out all the ammunition pouches in service, because they don't really fit in those designed for the pasteboard chargers.

Plus for all intents and purposes the pasteboard chargers are likely better. You drop a clip in the snow when your trying to load your rifle? Not really a issue with the pasteboard chargers, possibly a quick sweep on the bottom round to clean it off. With a Mauser style clip it can be a challenge to clean the rounds sufficiently to use. The pasteboard chargers still strip exceptionally easy, and they are pretty good for reusing even though the reuse of the clip isn't the primary function.

See if can find "Mauser" style clips for either 6.5 x 55 or 7.5 French
. Both of these cartridges share with the 7.5 Swiss
, the characteristic of a "bigger than standard" head diameter. Obviously only FIVE rounds, not six.
As a last resort, see if you can find any of the French-manufactured ALUMINIUM stripper-clips for their post-WW2 .30-06 ammo. These are a bit more malleable than steel ones. I used a few of the French clips for 6.5 Swede a couple of decades ago.

I have two of them here sent by a friend of mine in the Netherlands many years ago. He found them in a shop in Switzerland
, but he also understood that they were extremely rare. If you did locate any of them, I'd be very surprised if anyone wanted to part with them.
