Looking for matched K98 bolts

I have a 1939 K98 ser# 5954 I'd like to match. It has a bolt with ser# D 9089 I'd offer in trade. Also have a 1943 ser# 31942 with the bolt marked 2448 I'd offer. It's a crazy long shot I know, but what the heck.

31942 is an strange serial number for a '43 dated K98k?
Surely should be a 4 figure number with or without a letter block?
What maker code is it?


And yes, its a long shot!

My K98k is a bolt miss-match only, but they are quite close though......rifle is a #9282 g block and the bolt is a #9598 h block.....!!

Not unlike me to transpose numbers but yes the 43 appears to be 31942. If there's any other numbers they're cleverly hidden. But just forward of the receiver, on the barrel disappearing into the wood I see one digit that looks like a "0" or a "D". I'll have to pull it apart to see if there's more. Not today though.

Yes, 5 figure serials with or without letter blocks are right for mid to late war byf's it seems......(I admit late war 98's are not my main interest and I've never seen a 5 number one for sale in UK)
Yours looks like a b block serial?

BUT..............leaving aside boring run of the mill byf's and moving onto that gorgeous looking '39 dated Erma.........that looks absolutely lovely........and one of the more sought after makers...

It's a lower case "b" GeeRam. Rifles are identical except for the butt plates. Both shoot about 3" groups at 100 with iron sights and my admittedly aging eyes. I found a mount that will sit where the rear sight mounts for the 43. Cheap B-Square deal. Now to find a LER scope. Open to suggestions on that if someone else has a similar setup.

That's the problem with old git eyes and battle sights on old milsurps, especially v-notch K98k sights

I have a rare 6x pre-war P.Kohler Berlin commercial scope in great condition that would suit a repro high turret set up, but I don't want to butcher my Kriegsmarine issue Mauser-Berlin K98 so will look for another less rare maker miss-match K98k that would suit a HT scoped setup, and be a nice companion for my Enfield No.4T.
I'll keep the Kriegsmarine K98 for 100yrd shoots as a companion to my Enfield No.5 which is about the limit for my ageing eyes with battle sights.
But K98's are not that easy to come by in the UK......so it maybe a long wait.
