    I am sure you are being careful when removing the back or otherwise exposing the faces of radium-painted dials and hands- although they do not glow anymore, they are still radioactive and leave radioactive dust that is freed upon opening them. Use ventilation and caution.

    Thank you for the cautionary, but the face can't be exposed without removing the works or the crystal, and when opening the back, I'm careful. I only did it once, outside, to expose the movement and take pictures so I think I'm safe.

    WELL! I think I've nailed down the white-faced watch (kinda) which leaves finding out more about the Waltham. There's been speculation that it may have been part of a sniper's kit. I know the RCAF used exactly the same watch, but the example I saw was marked "RCAF" on the back. I'm assuming this one was army issue due to the GSTP stamp, but perhaps someone can clarify that. What blew me away was the RCAF watch sold for $950.!!! I've obviously got more research to do and more information to gather before I put this up on the market, but that was a shocker.
