He is no fool who gives what he cannot keep to gain that which he cannot lose
There are no great men, only great challenges that ordinary men are forced by circumstances to meet.
With the ancient D-28290 drawing the number i got was .502-.523".
My dims were from the:
Trigger pin to back of the trigger slot;
Max .710 and Min .690" . This takes into consideration where the front of the slot datums to the trigger pin (.010"+.000-.010")
Hammer pin to the forward surface of the trigger hook engagement slot;
Max 3.205" and Min 3.200"
Tolerance between the hammer and trigger holes of +-.002 on the 1.990" dim.
Please check my math
I'm glad somebody who worked for Winchester took home most of the prints. The latest I have is 1942.

So this is the dim that in my haste I forgot to add.
These are all very old drawings though.
Garand, M1, M14, M16, Carbine, 1911, 1917, Militaria, Small Arms is the place to go for prints though. All of it is the most up to date (as one can get anyway).
I have everything of his as relates to the M1.
Now to go machine some grooved lower bands (as soon as I get a concave radius slitting saw).

I was looking at his original "?" dimension that he was looking for.
That trigger slot is .700"-.710" with a positional tolerance of centered with the trigger pin to .010" forward of the trigger pin hole
