    Chapter 1, page 3 of the manual lists it as a Mullard xx1306 18mm
    (6135-99-0380760) I missed that first time round.
    I can’t see any reference no’s on mine,

    Aha! that answers the question then - The XX1306 is indeed an alternative tube to the original P8306C in the L5A1 Weaponsight, one with automatic brightness control too. Thank you very much for your help!
