First...Thanks to the Forum for the tip on a first series bayonet at auction.. The results......................As with all commodities..there is supply and demand. In this case....the demand far outweighs the supply...The market spoke to the tune of....$220+premium=shipping...I got caught up ..and won it.."Won" is a bad word !!..Numbers won't match my all-matching 44..but the opportunities to even buy one are few and far between..Now ..for a 38 carbine !!...j..

Gald you were able to "win" the bayonet for your rifle. Having a complete rifle later one will pay in the end. Complete bayonet setups like the one listed have to be hard to find and like you said few and far between, even more, no since there are more collectors then before. Love to see a picture of the rifle in its complete condition...

Working on the 44.. bayonet had one screw (bolt) missing on the attachment. There are 2..I need one...and I know it's a LOOOnnGGG shot !. I understand Japan used some type of different metric angle on their fasteners.... Any thoughts ?..thanks..Jerry..

Now...bayonet arrived today. Looked over the attachment..and obviously the piece on the rifle now needs to come off...Bayonet attaches with 2 screws in same place. What do I do first to remove the piece on the gun ?. It slips off..but do I remove the top of the handguard first..or just tap it till it looses and comes off ?. It looks like the sight remains in place..and the bayonet slips back into the same spot. Any help appreciated. I want to get it all together...Thanks..JV..PS..Have the correct screws..

Got the bayonet assembly figured out.. Now..I want to remove the action from the stock. Is there a trick to removing the band with the swivel on it. I depressed the spring..but it doesn't want to come off. Don't want to damage the wood..thanks..JV..
