Chapter 1, page 3 of the manual lists it as a Mullard xx1306 18mm
(6135-99-0380760) I missed that first time round.
I can’t see any reference no’s on mine,

Aha! that answers the question then - The XX1306 is indeed an alternative tube to the original P8306C in the L5A1 Weaponsight, one with automatic brightness control too. Thank you very much for your help!

They certainly had a variety of options for the sight, but Delft were a heavy supplier to UK
MOD through EEV.
This is the UK company Starlight Nightvision Ltd who will be able to help you source the right tube:
Starlight Night Vision. Information on Longbow, Kite, Archer, image intensifier tubes (2nd and 3rd gen), night vision rifle scopes

Just a follow up for anyone interested, XX1306 acquired, fits the L5A1 perfectly and functions perfectly off a 3V camera battery too! Now all I need is the appropriate mount... :-) Thanks for all the help.
