50 cal Blank M1A1 Ammo Box - memories bring back, memories bring back you

I was cleaning my work area today and kept turning up boxes of 7.62X39 ammo so I thought I should put it all in one place. I thought I was running low, guess not... LOL

Anyhow, I went to my shed and was rummaging around for an empty Ammo box and found two that I grabbed when I was in the SEABEES back in the early 80's, they have been buried and forgotten for a while.

This box held linked 50 Cal ammo... I remember I grabbed this one and another during our war games at Fort Hunter Liggett in California. Man, it brought back some memories... Even had some of those military foamie earplugs and a desiccant pack in it.

I went over to Minimi cans, we call them C9 or your SAW. Twice the size for four 200 rd drums. We all used to use .50 cans too. I remember the blanks were like a bomb, just a big load of powder to function the HMG with the hokey BFA if it would stay on. Some broke the rods and the BFA headed down range.

Anyway, yes...I still use that storage system.

You are right about that Jim, I wanted to be nowhere near them. Most of the cans I would grab were M80/M62 since I was an M60 gunner. My kids tell me they can't take can or brass anymore, not even spent smoke or 203 cartridges. The gun club I work for has a contract with the military and sells Ammo cans 3 for $20.00 or $8.00 each it is interesting to see the changes in the can from when I was in and now. I wish I would have grabbed my Dad's after he died. His were Korea and Vietnam issue. It I didn' despise my step-mother so much I'd go see what is left in the garage. When I went to collet his firearms I was told the "disappeared" I was a bit upset because most were I bit upset down from my grandfater.

Maybe a trip, just one to see. Swallow hard and have a go. Too bad about all his guns but that's a regular story. Bet she didn't have a pot to pi$$ in when they met...

We were never allowed to gravitate that cockarocka to our own premises but we did anyway, remove the markings with acetone and you were good. We have regular auctions by sealed bid at crown disposal where everything being disposed of within law is available to bidders. Sandbags of brass, ammo cans sometimes, textiles and hardware. Nothing really neat. Maybe you'd like to bid on a triwall full of MP wallets with the badge cutouts? Maybe some unissued desert flip flops that were supposed to be officer issue two dozen years ago for a mission that went defunct before the first postings... How about the old issue women's purses...
