Hi Simon,
I have a rifle, possibly an Envoy that is unmarked. It is .308, has regulated by Fulton on the front of the receiver. It has the sold out of service broad arrows marked on it. On the left buttstock socket it has the serial #17179 and ftr stamped. The bolt head appears unmodified from a .303 and it retains the .303 magazine. Any info would be appreciated.

From the serial number I can tell you that your rifle is definitely not an Enforcer, Envoy or L39A1. It sounds like you rifle was built from a stripped No4 action into a target rifle by Fultons. Your best bet would be to contact Fultons directly as they may have record of it.

Back again to bother you with another information request, as this weekend I completed the quest to obtain the missing model of Enfield's "Fantastic Four".

When you get a chance, could you please let me know what you may have on a 1970 L39A1 with serial number A778?

Perhaps this question would be better posed on the forum, but, I was wondering, do you also know whether the L39 was usually fitted with a commercial sling in competition, or, if not, which military sling was used?

Terry; it was the responsibility of the recieving unit to buy the rear sights (usually AJP 4/47 Twin Zero) and the front sight inserts, the front tunnel foresight came attached to the rifle with a bit of string!

The target sling was also purchased by the unit; during the 1970's pictures of the period show mainly leather 1917 Patt (M17) slings and the wider 2" AJP webbing target pattern slings attached to the rifle on the upper sling swivel and the sling swivel forward of the magazine.
The "single point" hadn't caught on in popularity at that time.

I dare say the 1937 Patt sling was used at times, my unit used it in NI on L42 A1's, it's a long time ago but I think it was because the L42 sling was either not avaliable or because it was deemed as being too complicated to adjust.
