Well, you're not ever going catch up with me, because mine's on Friday. I'm getting a 68 year old Ford Parts Manual and there's a frozen cake in the freezer - that's all I need!
I only have 4 flip sights and they've been on the same Carbines since they were built - the B-IP has had some windage adjustments with a hammer and punch, but don't think it's ever been clear off.
Your buddy in MN shows a few "rare" flips in his catalog at $165 and seems to have an endless supply, but probably not as nice as the one you pictured. Maybe you just need to "age" the grease on that one a bit?
If you had the Ford, you'd need to put another 40-50K into it and then you wouldn't be able to use it for anything. Parts are hard to find too, I sold most of what I had left to a guy in IN about 9 years ago. Remember too, all straight cut gears in the tranny with no synchos. Paid $75 for it nearly 48 years ago - not ready to sell it yet!
Frank's ID? I'd say he's probably looks a bit older than that now, but the pic matches the opinion I've formed of him over the past several years.
Enjoy your B-Day!- Bob
