    No, she flew fairly regularly, for a time, in the 1920,s and I still have her flying helmet and googles. I also have the car member's badge of the flying club that she belonged to. She wasn't a pilot but her brother was; they never flew together so that they wouldn't both be killed in the same accident.

    I thought that people here may be interested to see the photograph and that is why I posted it. This Avro 504 is unusual in that it was converted to carry 2 passengers.

    Avro did make a couple of prototype versions in the 20's to carry 2 pax (one version with an enclosed cabin for the 2 x pax) so civilian adaptions to do the same was probably quite common.
    Its amazing that the 504 continued in production until 1932...!!

    And a handful of them were still in RAF service when WW2 started...!!

    Fabulous story about your Grandmother as well, and that you have her flying helmet etc
    Just the thing for putting round holes in square heads.
