The only thing that confuses me is the removal of berries after it works for 10 days.

Is it Berries or Cherries? I'm guessing that by that time it's broken down and the juice out of the fruit? I would think you had to mash the Berries or Cherries first though Hmmmm is that what it says in prentices (Mash cherries before putting in ????) ?

The way it's written, they want the cherries mashed before putting in the crock, and the berries taken out after it works for 10 days - probably meant (what's left of) the cherries?? - Bob

I agree, just a miswritten direction, but anyone that has made wine can tell you that berries/cherries/grapes are all interchangeable. Like making mash whiskey, just about anything from potatoes to apples can be used.
