    Color like stated above: Tan / Khaki,

    You might have a WWII Era, Made for the US Marine Corps Reising Submachine Gun Sling ?
    If it fits on a Carbine I could see it being used.
    But I don't know anymore than what I just read.

    Question now is..... Is the Authors information correct ? IDK

    I've seen and own US Navy packs that are WWII with D tip ends.
    I own WWII Era M1icon Carbine cleaning rods / kit with smaller versions of a D tip strap
