    Welcome to the forum.
    I'd agree the stock has just been bumped or scrapped on something.
    I often think of the Butt plate as the Bump Plate.
    Can you tell us more about the Carbine you have there ?
    Pictures always welcomed.

    Thank you but it can not be the stock that has just been bumped because i see this stamp on some m1 on sales here (Franceicon). It is a "Y" or "7".

    What do you think about this m1 ?

    Barrel stamped general motors 6-44
    magazine stamped AI
    Stock stamped OI
    All parts are Inland
    Oiler stamped IS
    Original WW2 C-tip sling
