Do they have access to special run-flat tires? All the run flat tires I have ever seen are not great and can only get you a very short distance, but they probably have the real deal that can withstand a lot more for armored vehicles I'm sure. I thought about the run flats, but I didn't think they would stand up to a 7.62x39. I bet armored vehicles use similar grade run-flat tires similar to what's on the beast, the limo that the president uses. I have never used run flat tires myself so I don't have any experience with them, but I have always heard not to bother with them ,that they are all pretty much junk. I believe a lot of BMW's and newer cars come with them from the factory nowadays. That driver certainly did keep his cool though!

Ours were made by Michelin for our Grizzly and Cougar six wheel armor vehicles...and the run flat is a solid rubber core for the inside of the tire. There's a bit of air for cushion but the core is solid rubber. Unless you blow pieces out it'll run. The bullet proof tires are cute, like layers of rubber bands overlaid. A bullet passes through and they still leak but slowly. If you have true run flats, they'll take whatever ball ammo sent their way. 7.62x39 won't make any difference.
    Regards, Jim
