Wife's birthday M1917
My & I have a tradition of getting each other a firearm of some sort for birthdays. This year I'm running late by a few weeks, but it took some time to settle on something then to acquire. Not to long ago I picked up a really nice M1917 bayonet which got me thinking that the misses loves Enfields and I've been on a domestic caliber kick. So I decided that she needed an M1917. Did some horse trading & came up with this on for her.
U.S. Model of 1917 Remington. In stupid nice condition to with her bayonet. Has a really nice bore & stock. The action screws are still staked in place. The only non Remington parts I've found are an Eddystone rear sight & Winchester cocking piece. Not that I've had much opportunity to look at it much. Put a leather Kerr sling on it as I don't have a 1917 length canvas Kerr sling & I kinda like it. Goes well with my Remington M1903. Will post better pictures later. Most of these are from the previous owner. Thank you Dallas!

Very nice rifle, makes me wish I had mine back. I had a Remington and an ERA, both were early dated and about new in the grease. Never did have a Winchester, too much money even then.

Thank you. She's really happy with it, despite that she's a blackpowder junky. Hopefully we'll get out to the range next weekend.
I'm a Winchester snob, so I'm on the hunt for a Winchester M1917 for myself here soon. Probably going to be her birthday present for me. Only a couple few months away.

The pride of my 1917's is a winchester. Has Canadian
markings on the stock and red paint on the forend. An import that was all winchester except for the butt plate. The winchester bayonets are getting hard to find.

What a beautiful M1917. Is she (your wife) going to shoot it?
I hope to pickup mine from my friend in October. Waiting game is killing me! ha!

She'll definitely shoot it, she's a recoil junky. I like 6.5 swede & carcano, she wants .30 cal and up. She'll shoot her trapdoor all day long & has a little 1863 Sharps carbine in .54 thats were in the process of making shootable again. But she likes my 1874 Sharps quite a bit, and the 12ga. Top that off with being a reaaaaaaaally good shot. I'm left feeling inadequate some days.
I bet that Canadian Winchester is a beauty.
