38 Special cartridge case with large pistol primer
A few people told me all 38 special cartridges were manufactured with for small pistol primers
I believe that there is one example in the of these three, that has a large pistol primer.
Anyone have additional information about 38 special with large pistol primers ?

That would be correct, just the newer examples were made with small primers. Large is normal.

As for 38spl, I don't know what the full story was, an example of a .357 magnum with a large pistol primer was given me by an old shooter that said they were an attempt to give better ignition with heavy loads. Since there ARE heavy loads in .38 spl, I wonder if it's the same? Here's a thread about it too. Read all of it, one old shooter states they all started that way.

Another thread further back in time... 38 spl cases that take large primers, what?

There was a thread on the IAAC forums about these and they were made in WW2 when there was a shortage of small pistol primers.
