No, there are a small, medium and large, I don't know about extra small or EX lge. We didn't have anything extra or sub size as you suggest. Our ideas came from others ahead of us, we wore the steel M1 when the US had already changed over. Our pattern came from them.

I was trying to establish what the "1" denoted as clearly it has some meaning. The question appears to have now been answered.
