    The pigs I've shot I've used a 444 Marlin (240gn FBHP @2400fps) and a 303 (150gn FBSP @2500fps) there is no trade off with horsepower get a large boar with hard baked mud on him then the 5.56 may struggle but a 308 or 303 energy rifle will see them off.
