    Thanks badger.

I doubt I will be able to get sub-MOA using the PU scope, not even to mention iron sites, unless maybe I had a rifle stand which stayed at a constant. I rely on my breathing and my stance/shooting position and if necesarry ill lean on the bench or an ammo box.

    Ahhhh....

I didn't read carefully and realize that your shooting in this outing was basically a "free form" hold. That's even better.... I doubt I could do that well only leaning against a support ...

    Marksmanship

I'm only a Master High Power Rifle competitor. My friend refuses to fire old surplus rifles. He chooses to shoot his AR only. He repeatedly cleans the 1.5 in 10 ring on a Slow Prone target off the sling @ 100 yds. Most don't believe it. I even have a hard time with it.
Some are gifted, some like myself really struggle. The group I run and compete with are both Distinguished Riflemen. 2 time Perry, Springfield Match winner John Frigugletti & 2 time Perry, Garandicon Match winner Christopher Roberts (Neil). These fellas make competition tough in the Carolinas. I've had both of their rifles in hand, Johns 03A3, I slicked up myself. Neils rifle as well as Johns are both as issued. Both rifles will fire under 2 MOA with good issue ammo. Both shooters can pretty much hold that 2 MOA, Prone Slow.
We have good days and bad days. Firing 1 MOA with irons is tough even with the best rifles. I agree with you Badger hummm? Nice shooting Sigismund.
At 48 years of age its getting really tough to hold a 3.350" 10 ring @ 100yards, off the sling. Heres my Springfield 1903 at @ Perry a couple of years ago. Got a gold medal with it!
Like another friend Maury, stated on another forum. You have to take the good with the bad. The good, my rifle placed the shot right where I pointed it. The bad, My rifle placed the shot right where I pointed it.

no no, you read it correctly. Normally I shoot free stance, this one time, I wanted to see what kind of groups I would get if I had a more constant shooting position. The groups you see above are me sitting and leaning on an ammo box.

I doubt I could keep them as gathered if free stance, but I hope to disprove that

Its snowing right now in Calgary, although yesterday was plus 15 and sunny, I hope to have some updates to this topic, hopefully out to 300m. I wonder how far I can push it.

The good, my rifle placed the shot right where I pointed it. The bad, My rifle placed the shot right where I pointed it.
Very true! The thing is, I wasnt even perfectly sure if my mosin was shooting where it was pointed, but now I know for sure.
