    455's at the range

I haven't shot my 455's in a while, so I took all four out to a local indoor range yesterday. A lot of pistol shooters lament the 455 as an anemic round, but the recoil is mild, it's relatively accurate, and it does what it's supposed to do. I love shooting these big revolvers.

    From top to bottom; A Webley-Fosbury, and 1916 Webley Mk 6, a 1922 Enfield Mk 6, and a S&W Hand Ejector (2nd model).

And the amazing thing is the Fiocchi 262 grain lead factory load is dead on for all four revolvers. Using a 6 o'clock hold at 10 yards for all four, it's dead in the bull. Target is 150 rounds, using all four revolvers.

I love shooting my Webleys. Just wish ammunition wasn't so expensive!

Dead on because you use the ammo it's supposed to shoot. And, you can shoot... I enjoy watching them shot now more than shooting some of these, arthritis has taken over my thumb joints and recoil really bothers it. I'd enjoy watching the WF shot as there's only one I know of around here and it's in a collection that will never be shot. Anyway, well done.
    Regards, Jim

The Mk. VI is dead on with the Fiocchi, not sure about this one. Down to my last 250 rounds of the factory stuff, and $55.00 a box does hit the wallet pretty hard. Brass, bullets, dies, etc are all ready, so yet one more project awaits.

The Fosberry is my wish gun. Missed out on a decent MK VI with a shaved cylinder. I have a .38 Singapore police issue Webley. If people think the .455 is anemic, they should check out the .38. LOL. Still fun to shoot and it gets a lot of looks.

It isn't about the recoil it's about the results downrange which the .455 has a excellent track record of. This reminds me I need to take my Webley to the range, still haven't had a chance to shoot it yet.

Big soft lead bullet that obturates perfectly and has great coefficient for what it is. I just can't shoot large frame handguns any more...sad.

Fired a S&W 460M in Qld yeah made the hand sting a bit, the 50 AE desert eagle I fired also was allot more fun to shoot both weapons had huge muzzle flash and noise that went right through you, made memories of when shooting my Ruger Super Redhawk 44 Mag with factory rounds seem like a .22 !

Tried few rounds out of a guy's 500 Smith a while back. It was ridiculous. Decided right then and there that if I ever needed anything more than a .44 Mag, I'd take a rifle.
