I like Willy Pete, however when in Basic Training in 1970 when we were on the grenade range we got a demonstration of all the grenades before throwing our own. When the WP grenade was thrown a really big Drill Sergeant from Hawaii was tasked to throw it. He wound up and pitched. And immediately ran like a rabbit. First thought was "WTF," and second thought when it detonated was "WTF!!!!" as some of it reached his pit. Far far better as a rifle grenade. And no, they wouldn't give trainees a WP grenade. Just two HE.
