    Good morning

This is my last post on this thread..

I have no interest or time to get into some Richard conversation with an Internet forum, one I literally only visit once or twice every few months.. I hadn’t been on here in literally years until a Google search of my M1C’s serial number pulled up an old thread from 2009. Interestingly the forum members then were questioning the validity of the rifles stock, when in actuality it is an original example and according to Dave a fantastic C.

I find it incredulous someone would imply this thread is the worst example of civility on here since the CSPicon.

I know that isn’t the case because I started on Gun and Knife and was on the CSP at its inception.. and knew Dick and Gloria personally. I mention that as contextually Ive seen the evolution of the ‘net and firearm discussions . I’ve seen firsthand some of the threads on forums and believe me… this is so mild it really shouldn’t even be a “thing”

I’ve been collecting a long time… and know or have known (many aren’t with us anymore or have left the hobby) most of the “heavy weights,” in collecting (US or Germanicon).

I don’t mind someone questioning something I have… but do it respectfully (as they should anyone’s items) AND if their question /post throws unintended shade on the item, especially after their question was answered… man up and post an apology.. AND if that doesn’t happen.. IMO accept the blow back and moderation should recognize this and correct the post..

The other fundamental issue I have with this thread at this point is MY PERCEIVED (and last I looked I’ve earned the right to have an opinion) opinion has been minimized… and moderation still doesn’t get that

So I’m publicly asking the thread to be removed…

    Thanks

I just don't understand all this. If the rifle and stock in question is legit (which it is if Rick Bicon says so), then why care at all who views it and analyzes it. If it were mine, I wouldn't care who said what about it. It's already been authenticated by the top stock expert. More eyes on something can't hurt, and could become a learning experience for someone else. I don't believe Mark had any ill intentions, heck, he even tried to keep the owner's privacy intact by trying not to single out the rifle's owner in the first place, only showing the cartouche and weird grain section. In my view he was simply asking if anyone saw anything weird, nothing more. Real professionals wouldn't mind anything they owned being scrutinized. I know anything I own that I know is authentic, I would welcome all the criticisms about it.

To clear up my previous post, in other words, if he didn't want people scrutinizing his rifle, then why put it on the internet at all? He should have just personally and privately took it to Rick Bicon, had it authenticated, and then took it back home if he didn't want other people asking questions about it or questioning it in any way. Should have just kept the entire thing private and not on a public forum. Just for giggles, if I ever post anything that I believe or know is genuine, anyone and everyone on this forum and others have my no strings attached permission to post pictures of anything I own and ask all the questions and scrutinize anything you want to about it and you will not hear one sour word from me. That goes for forums I don't belong to or never visit. I just wouldn't care. Out of all the problems life throws at me, I just wouldn't allow that to be one of them haha

Fella, needs to start his own website.
And then respectfully be the arbiter of all that is righteous unto himself.
Idk know about anyone else, but I could give a toss about any gleaming examples of Winchester or any best rifle someone produces.
Or anything else for that matter when they come across like that.

It's a detriment to the hobby is sadly what it is. Other knowledgeable members have come and gone because they have zero people skills. All that knowledge gone and unaccessible, All because of attitudes and egos

Okay. Let's let it go. Thanks, all, for calm attitudes.
