Never said I did not like it. Noticed something unusual about the it and wanted to see if any one else noticed it.

As far as posting in the original thread it was my intent to separate as to not identify the particular rifle.

Winchester, cartouches seem OK to me (but Ive been wrong before), but without seeing the features of the stock verifying that it is a true Winchester I wouldnt want to provide a final opinion.
It is my understanding that the original as-issued cartouches were stamped ONLY on authentic Winchester stocks. Win stocks have certain differences from stocks by other manufacturers. I would need pics of inside near bottom of trigger guard inlet and towards the top to form an opinion of the true origin of the stock..

I dont follow the meaning of your answer at all? Please elaborate clearly.
If you are pointing out the odd/suspicious grain and finish patterns, yes, I also am not sure what I am seeing. It is at best...unusual.

So I own the rifle.. the stock has been looked over by Ricky B and countless others in the GCA.. no issues.. the rifle is actually about the nicest Win-13 you could hope to find.. not sure what you are driving at..

What you are seeing is wood grain.. Winchester stocks weren’t always finished to the same detail as Springfield.. spend time with M1 carbines and it also becomes apparent.

Maybe if I get a chance I will pull out some M1’s (this and a few others in similar condition) and take pics and post them.,
