I expect one of our guys local is using a prohib rifle on occasion. The case had signs of a stoppage we used to get occasionally with FNs. There were a few empties around too.

A Collector's View - The SMLE Short Magazine Lee Enfield 1903-1989. It is 300 8.5x11 inch pages with 1,000+ photo’s, most in color, and each book is serial-numbered. Covering the SMLE from 1903 to the end of production in India in 1989 it looks at how each model differs and manufacturer differences from a collecting point of view along with the major accessories that could be attached to the rifle. If someone installed a 7mm Venezuelan barrel on an Egyptian rifle, I would give it a really good inspection before shooting it Could be just fine, but who knows who did it, and how well was it done. Headspace is the first thing that comes to mind.
    US$800 for this rifle?

SARCO was at one time selling "new" 7,92x57mm barrels and some other calibers have surfaced from time to time, Now most US military rifle barrels (1903 and m1 rifle) when new are
"short" chambered and require finial fitting

Or maybe the simplest explanation is the gun shop is wrong, and that it's 8x57mm.

The tag on it said CIA which is century arms import. Did century put their importers mark on the barrels at this time? Or were they marking the receivers? If the barrel is marked with the importers information, that would suggest it was rebarreled before importation wouldn't it? I could be way off but I'm just trying to think of a way to get a general idea of maybe when it was rebarreled if at all.
