How was the aim and the distance made? On the BM59 we had a lifting sight that allowed to set distance and aim straight, using the diameter of the rocket and bringing it up to the distance guessed.
Not clear, I imagine.
But how was it done here. I really don’t know. Guesswork?

Matter of fact the Thompson SMG book shows the same position for full auto firing, standing with the sling unhooked and under the toe. I should thing this would help too... Might break your original 1918 marked M1907 sling though.

There is a grenade sight available and mountable for the M1
rifle but it was for shoulder shooting.
