Third pic strikes me as odd. It's titled "The photograph shows Canadianicon peacekeepers from the 1st Battalion, Canadian Guards, working on communication lines between their headquarters in Kyrenia and the Nicosia Zone headquarters of UNFICYP. "

The guy foreground is portraying a sentry and we didn't do that over there. Lots of Observation Post but not what he's doing. Strange posing by a photog. Canadian Guards were the only regiment that had no battle honors on their colors, disbanded with unification.
    Regards, Jim

That's no surprise Jim, Canadian photogs are very prone to asking CF members to adopt poses that they could caption, "Brave Canadian Peacekeepers throughout the World stand guard" or some such blather. It sells well to the people back home i guess. I was part of the RDF (Rapid Deployment Force) at Camp Zuoani on the Golan Heights and we were ordered to don our webgear, helmets, and rifles and form a kneeling V at the gate so some clown could take our picture. That is the last thing we would have done if there was trouble, of course.
